LED bulb & tube buying guide

Choose the right lamp type

For everyday fixtures, begin with the LED Bulbs category and match the bulb shape and base. A19, GU10 and PAR lamps cover different fixture designs, so compare the full model specifications before ordering.

For linear lighting, browse T5 and T8 LED Tubes and confirm the lamp length, base and required installation type. LED U-Bend Tubes are a separate option for fixtures designed around a U-shaped lamp.

PL and PLL LED lamps use pin-base connections. Match the pin arrangement and electrical requirements as well as the physical size. For existing HID fixtures, explore LED HID Retrofit Bulbs and confirm the specific fixture and ballast requirements. Temporary work lights serve a different purpose, providing lighting for jobsite and maintenance tasks.

Compare light output and colour

Lumens describe light output, while watts describe energy use. Use the listed lumen output when comparing brightness, then check whether the lamp's light distribution suits the fixture and application.

Colour temperature, measured in kelvins, describes how warm or cool the light appears. Lower kelvin values produce a warmer appearance; higher values produce a cooler appearance. Compare the listed colour temperature with the lighting already in the room, especially when replacing only part of an installation.

Some lamps offer selectable colour temperatures. Check the product page for the available settings. Dimming, colour selection and other features depend on the individual model.

Check the fixture and controls

Confirm the rated voltage and the manufacturer's compatibility information. Ballast-compatible lamps require a suitable ballast. Ballast-bypass products have different installation requirements, so use the instructions for the exact model. Have any required fixture conversion carried out by a qualified electrical professional.

For dimming, enclosed fixtures, outdoor use or damp locations, look for the specific ratings and compatibility information on the product page or specification sheet. A matching base and size are only part of selecting a suitable replacement.

Plan your replacement order

Check the listed sales unit and pack quantity when comparing prices. For offices, retail spaces, hallways and larger commercial projects, record the existing model numbers and quantities so the replacement choices can be reviewed together.

For help identifying a lamp, send us the model number and clear photos of its label, base and fixture. For long lamps, oversized shipments or larger project orders, contact us to confirm delivery arrangements. See our Shipping & Returns policy for delivery and return conditions.
